The Momentum Centre

Leader in economic and workforce development.

Background

Founded by two staff and a core group of our original program, the Youth Work Experience Initiative graduates in 2010, The Momentum Centre, Inc. is recognized provincially and nationally as an innovator in providing life stabilization, meaningful employment, cutting edge professional development, trauma recovery, successful labour force attachment and community reintegration with:

   Employment and Income Assistance Recipients

   Indigenous and New Canadian Youth

   Post-incarcerated Adults and Youth

Within a three-year period, TMC was approached twice by the Province of Manitoba to design and test drive pilot programs.  This resulted in the creation of two unique programs: the Momentum Now! Youth employment program and the Momentum Community Reintegration Program, now the Resiliency Project 2.0.

A strategic partner with the Manitoba Works Initiative since 2013, The Momentum Centre continues to play a key role in supporting Manitoba by meeting the needs of unemployed Manitobans.

Our vision

Building workforces and economies with resilience and opportunity in motion centered on equitable access and reconciliation.

Our mission

Facilitating reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion by generating equitable access to employment and training with Indigenous and newcomer youth.

Building bridges between industry, youth and equity deserving groups that support business development, advance employability, and leadership skills while improving economic well-being, mental health, resilience capacity, and employment outcomes.

Our values & goals

To recognize the skill of bouncing back as an innate ability and encourage the development and honing of this essential skill.

To build the resilience capacity of youth seeking employment by activating youths’ inherent strengths, motivation, and capacity for joy and by engaging participants with all the parts of themselves, each other, and their learning, through a collaborative and power sharing practice.

To successfully engage youth in getting, keeping, and progressing in the world of work by delivering on our integrated approach, philosophy, model, curriculum, processes and set of tools that combine to produce a synergy that achieves results.

Approach & Philosophy

Central to the work we do at TMC is a core belief in the inherent resiliency already functioning within our participants.

Our guiding principle is to see, first and foremost and with confidence, participants’ basic goodness, holding them accountable to it, while also protecting it, cultivating it, and providing the conditions for that basic goodness to flourish.

Meeting participants where they are at and recognizing who they are (competent and with valuable expertise to share) is the fundamental basis by which we operate.
