The Momentum Centre (TMC) is a leader in economic & workforce development. TMC supports industry employers, and youth with emphasis on equity deserving groups, particularly Indigenous people, newcomers, and former youth in care.
By harnessing employer partnerships that are demand driven, TMC provides employability skills, resiliency coaching, professional development training, work experience along with retention and advancement supports. This innovative approach enables smooth transitions to employment while focusing on talent pipeline development.
Founded in 2010, The Momentum Centre evolved from the Youth Work Experience Initiative(2004–2013), which achieved major success in helping participants transition to employment and education. We’ve since expanded to become a trusted partner in workforce and community development.
Building bridges between industry, youth, and equity-deserving groups to support business development, advance employability, and develop leadership skills while improving economic well-being, mental health, resiliency and employment outcomes.
Building resilient workforces and economies centered on equitable access and reconciliation.
The Momentum Centre is powered by a passionate team of professionals dedicated to making a difference. We are united by a shared commitment of helping individuals overcome barriers and supporting businesses to create inclusive and resilient workplaces.
Hi! I’m Kimber Corthey, Co-Founder, CEO of TMC! I lead, train, coach and mentor our mighty team whose impactful work ripples outward with significant results. My background in post-secondary instruction, course design, and Nation Building studies laid the foundation for co-creating TMC and much of its curriculum. Integrating lived experience with professional expertise is at the heart of what I bring, infusing joy while delivering resilient, trauma-informed economic development, motivated by our many future-ready youth leader graduates! Grounded by my role as a mom, writer, singer and Qigong practitioner, I believe reconciliation is the cornerstone of EDI.
Hi, I’m Sophia, the Executive Assistant and Office Manager here at TMC, also an alumnus of the original program (YWEI) and a former board member. I support our amazing team by keeping the workplace running smoothly – from managing supplies to coordinating events to working closely with our CEO in driving impactful projects. It’s incredibly rewarding to be able to use my skills in doing meaningful work that supports our youth. Aside from problem solving, I love being outdoors - biking, camping, and playground-hopping with my toddler.
My name is Ashley, and I am the Senior Project Leader of Momentum Now! And a proud Indigenous woman who enjoys collaborating and networking with likeminded individuals and organizations. My passion for youth enhancement has been over a decade in the making and I remain open to learning and growing through this process, myself. Celebrating the success of our participants while they navigate a life of internal and system barriers will forever inspire me.

I'm passionate about helping individuals move forward in their lives and feel honored to witness their personal growth and transformation. A fun fact about me: I love to laugh and bring positive energy wherever I go!
